Supply Chain and Pharmacy

  • The last warehouse requisition form for the year was sent out on Wednesday, December 2.
  • The COVID-19 warehouse will be closing at 4:30 pm CST on Tuesday, December 22 and will re-open on Monday, January 4, 2021. Please note, on any orders shipped LTL: the last shipment date will be Friday, December 18, 2020.
  • The next warehouse requisition form will be January 6, 2021.
  • Here is a link to an updated list of dry ice suppliers that were provided by AirGas as alternate suppliers in areas not covered by AirGas. Additionally, we are highlighting some considerations for facilities as we approach the holidays and how to manage dry ice replenishment around the weekends.
  • Per AirGas:
    • Closed on Christmas and New Year’s Day
    • Delivery is available on the weekends, but courier fees will be very expensive
    • Recommend refilling early to avoid holidays and weekends
  • COVID-19 Vaccine FAQs:
    • Who is getting the vaccine?
      • One way to determine who wants to receive the vaccine is to query your site by developing a questionnaire in SurveyMonkey or similar survey options. Once you have your list, it will help you plan for when the vaccine arrives.
    • What if 100 people want the vaccine and I only receive enough for 50?
      • One way to handle this is to do a lottery or random draw of names and/or prioritize high risk areas (COVID Units, ICU, ER, etc.); furloughed employees who are not onsite could be a low priority.
      • ***IMPORTANT**** you will not want to vaccinate the entire department at the same time as there is an expected immune response within the first 24-36 hours of vaccination.
      • If many employees within one department want to vaccinate, conduct a staggered approach, (i.e. space out 3-5 days), to reduce the impact to that department.
    • Where do I store it?
      • The current understanding is that the armed national guard may be delivering the doses, this lets you know the importance of keeping the vaccine secured. It is recommended to securely store the doses within the pharmacy. If your storage is located outside of the pharmacy (where an ultra-low temp freezer may be), you can purchase locks like this one from HCL.
    • Where do I purchase supplies/dry ice?
      • We have verbal confirmation on Operation Warp Speed that the sites receiving the Pfizer vaccine will also receive a dry ice kit that includes cryogenic gloves, scoop, eye protection and the initial dry ice refill.
      • You can also purchase supplies from:
        • Dry Ice Airgas and Penguin
          • Airgas 800-329-0010
            • Full HR11 $.57/lb + $30 delivery fee
            • 50-500 lb deliveries: .95/lb + courier fees
    • Cryogenic PPE (gloves, face shield, etc)
      • Fisher Healthcare – Cryogenic Gloves
      • Grainger – Cryogenic PPE
        • Kit is $455.73 with a 20-30-day lead time
    • What if employees have moral/ethical/religious objections regarding vaccines using fetal cell lines during development?

  • Stimulus legislation is gaining steam in the House and Senate.
    • Elections are over allowing negotiations to renew again.
    • Additional financial relief for the economy is being discussed.
    • Various Health Care Provider Relief Fund issues are being addressed by trade associations.
  • Reminder: Sequestration Adjustment goes into effect on January 1, 2021.
    • Sequestration adjustment was postponed in Spring 2020.
    • Enabling legislation only postponed sequestration withholds until December 31, 2021.
